It remains creative work but its not for me. This is absolutely fantastic. You spend years listening to decent electronic music, and then something like this comes along and you demand more from everyone else. To my ears, there is no doubt this is Richard James, but who knows.

All the trademark Aphex-isms are there: immaculate structuring and production, great melodies, and innovative synth work. It's hard to describe what it sounds like, but isn't that why we all love Aphex? This record takes elements for every album he's ever done and mixes it all up into a potent sonic stew.

Even if this isn't Aphex Twin, I highly recommend this to anyone! Reply Notify me 5 Helpful. It harks to traditional electronic motifs but doesn't stay there long. It reminds me of Drukqs in this way. It's that schizophrenic but it's not glitch. It uses glitch elements strategically to provide contrast to those sections which would otherwise become repetitive. It is masterfully crafted.

The instrumentation seem to confirm the uprising popularity of old synth technology.

Jul 19,  · The Tuss – ‘Rushup Edge’ Big props go to the gleefully rueful ‘Last Rushup 10’, the crazily wonky disco of ‘Shiz Ko E’ and the hyper-percussive and darkly optimistic ‘Rushup Bank 12’. My vote is this is the work of Aphex, whatever, play it real loud! Discogs.

Aug 20,  · Rushup Edge, an EP by The Tuss. Released 25 June on Rephlex (catalog no. CAT CD; CD). Genres: Acid Techno, IDM. 3 Shiz Ko E Rushup Edge is half an hour of music filled with ideas for several hours and made with the highest technical expertise. The way it was released is one of the biggest understatements in music history/5(24).

Before the official reveal of Richard D. James as being The Tuss, it was originally theorized that The Tuss was a group consisting of Cornish musicians Brian Tregaskin and Karen Tregaskin. So far The Tuss's releases are an EP, "Confederation Trough" and an album, "Rushup Edge". Both have been released on Rephlex in

Shiz Ko E: Probably my least favourite, that’s only because it’s not that long, but it’s short and sweet in its own right. Amazing melodies, pretty sad, good sound design. Can’t think of anything to say about this that I haven’t mentioned before in terms of sound design and the general feel of Rushup Edge.

A short album -- six tracks at 32 minutes total -- Rushup Edge might best be heard with that debut EP, but on its own it is a classic "hit it quick and be done with it" effort, with each song containing delights that sometimes put a smile on one's face just for being so immediate. "Shiz Ko E" could just about be something from Chicago 7/

Sep 28,  · The Tuss is supposedly Karen Tregaskin, but AFX-ian elements are smudged everywhere here. Acid synth squelches swordfight a cornered drum machine on “Synthacon 9,” and there is the telltale “Goodbye Rute,” where gelatinous beats try to interrupt a symphonic melody that delivers flowers to a graveyard.
