Beautiful Summer - Primal Scream - Beautiful Future

Golden Greats. Ian Brown. Golden Greats is the second solo album released by Ian Brown, a first made famous by his role as frontman in The Stone Roses. Despite the title, the album is not a compilation, but rather, a studio album. It was described by NME as "a left-field masterpiece and Brown's best work for a decade", contains soaring sonic textures and electronic dance beats; it is less song-oriented than Unfinished Monkey Business. Golden Greats showcases a diverse usage of instruments including strings, mellotron and organs.

A number of the tracks on the album were written by Brown whilst he was imprisoned for two months following a fracas with a flight attendant. Love Travels At Illegal Speeds. Graham Coxon. It was released 13 March in the United Kingdom, the day after Coxon's 37th birthday. The album was produced by Stephen Street who also produced Coxon's previous album, Happiness in Magazines. It is Blur's second retrospective collection, succeeding 's Blur: The Best Of and coincides with the band's reunion performances.

The opening title track features the most joyous, clear-headed melody they've sung since Screamadelica 's "Movin' on Up", but in a much different dressing. Military references are either deployed playfully the "gas chambers" on "Beautiful Future" standing in for a culture choking on over-consumption or lazily "Suicide Bomb" being a cheap, ripped-from-the-headlines metaphor for goin' crazy , but even in the latter instance, the self-immolating image is followed by Gillespie declaring, "I see the beauty in everything.

Misdirection and sudden turns are Primal Scream's raison d’être. Longtime fans know this well and are armed against swift changes in fashion -- but even so, the hazy, unformed Beautiful Future may seem like a smack upside the head after the retro-raunch of Riot City Blues, let alone the densely coiled anarchic rock of their turn of the millennium pair of XTRMNTR and Evil Heat.5/

Jul 28,  · In a sense, Beautiful Future finds Primal Scream turning into the sort of bright, bouncy 80s pop band they initially stood in opposition to. And yet, the transition is pulled off with such 7/

Aug 01,  · But let's face it: Primal Scream's last essential LP was 's XTRMNTR, Evil Heat was merely good and, barring a couple of tracks, Riot City Blues was pretty awful. Beautiful Future, while not containing anything as ridiculously brilliant as Dolls, is a slight improvement on their previous record.6/
